These Tahini Chocolate Chunk Oat Cookies are made with only a handful of ingredients and come together in less than 30 minutes. They are naturally vegan, dairy-free, refined-sugar-free and gluten-free while being deliciously rich and studded with dark chocolate chunks. They make the perfect dunking cookie or to enjoy with a glass of ice-cold milk.
These cookies combine a few of my favourite things: tahini, chocolate and oats – they are basically an indulgent porridge bowl in cookie form, with all of the goodness of a hearty breakfast bowl and all the crunch and chew of a cookie.
Chocolate chip cookies are a winner in my household and they have also been very popular at potluck events and afternoon teas that I have catered for, so it was only time that I upped the cookie game and introduced another element to the classic cookie.
Inspired by my Chocolate Chunk Oat Cookies, these are also based on oats and chocolate chunks (or chips depending on how you like them) but these have an added depth of flavour that can be put down to the creamy tahini. Whisked up with a little syrup and some almond essence, the tahini blend thickens until even creamier and helps to bind the dry ingredients together. To compliment the almond essence, I’ve also added in some ground almonds to the mix as well as cinnamon for warming sweetness, baking powder for a rise and a pinch of salt as we all love that salty-sweet combo.
When I first made these Tahini Chocolate Chunk Oat Cookies I used a chopped up bar of orange dark chocolate which was so delicious with the oats and tahini but feel free to use plain dark or milk chocolate or another flavour like salted caramel, fruit & nut or vanilla.
These Tahini Chocolate Chunk Oat Cookies are delicious any time of day – enjoy them on the go as a quick and healthy snack, with a cup of tea for a relaxing afternoon treat or after dinner with some ice cream for a delicious dessert. They won’t last long…
I hope you’ll love these Tahini Chocolate Chunk Oat Cookies as much as we do, they are deliciously rich with a crunchy outside and chewy inside studded with creamy chocolate chunks laced with nutty almond essence.

Yum! I love using maple syrup as a sweetener, especially with chocolate. It just goes so well together on some deeper level. On the pother hand I’ve never baked with tahini… Something to try!

Cookies look great.. but without ability to convert to cups instead of weight, it is useless to me. Please add a translation from metric also portion adjustment.
Hi Myra, sorry you feel that way. Here in the UK we don’t really use cup measurements but it’s very easy to google for yourself each ingredients into cups and then you can easily half or double the recipe as needed! Hope that helps and enjoy the cookies
