What ingredients do I need?
You can see the ingredient list in the recipe card below, and see my favourites in the “shop the recipe” card.
For the salami:
Dark chocolate: I use the dark orange and ginger chocolate from Divine which is amazing, but you can use any dark or dairy-free chocolate.
Runny smooth almond butter: or you can use peanut or cashew butter or keep it nut-free with sunflower seed butter or tahini.
Maple syrup: or use agave syrup.
Orange zest: for flavour.
Ginger biscuits: make sure they are vegan and GF. Or you can use Biscoff cookies, too.
Mixed nuts: I used almonds and pistachios but hazelnuts, cashews or pecans are amazing. Or try pumpkin and sunflower seeds to make it nut-free.
Mixed dried fruit: I use a mix with raisins, currants and candied peel.
Salt: for flavour.
Cocoa powder: to dust on top. Cacao powder will also work.

Is this gluten-free and nut-free?
This is easily gluten-free, as long as your cookies are GF-friendly. To make it nut-free, swap the almond butter for sunflower seed butter or tahini and swap the nuts for seeds or more fruits/biscuits.
How do I make this?
This is easy to make in a few steps:
Melt the chocolate with almond butter and syrup: until glossy.
Crush the cookies and chop the nuts: and stir all the add-ins together in a bowl.
Pour over the chocolate and stir well: to a chunky mix.
Spoon onto apiece of parchment: and shape into a log.
Roll up tightly and twist the ends: to seal it in.
Chill in the fridge for 1 to 2 hours: or until set.
Remove from the parchment and dust with cocoa powder: and slice to serve.

How long will it last?
This will keep for at least 1 week in the fridge in a sealed container or 1 month in the freezer. Allow to thaw before eating.
This Chocolate Orange Salami is a no-bake delicious chocolatey dessert or snack to enjoy throughout the festive season. It’s indulgent and crunchy, made with plant-based and gluten-free ingredients.
Add the chocolate and almond butter to a heatproof bowl and warm in the microwave or over a pan of simmering water until melted and smooth.
Now stir in the maple syrup until smooth.
To a large mixing bowl, add the orange zest, crushed cookies, nuts, dried fruits and salt and stir well. Pour over the chocolate mix and stir to combine.
Place a piece of parchment paper on the surface (about 30-cm/12-inch square) and scoop the chocolate salami mix into the middle. Squish it together so it’s compact.
Now roll the parchment up and around the chocolate mix to make a compact log.
Twist the ends tightly to seal it and place in the fridge to set for 1-2 hours.
When ready to serve, unroll the salami, removing the parchment paper. Dust with cocoa powder.
Use a warm sharp knife to slice the salami into pieces and enjoy. Keep leftovers in the fridge in a sealed container for up to 1 week. You can also freeze it, wrapped well for 1 month, and allow to defrost before eating.
