These Air Fryer Banana Splits Two Ways make a gooey, delicious and wholesome dessert in 15 minutes. Choose Peanut Butter Snickers or White Chocolate Pecan for the best vegan and gluten-free sweet.
I recently got an air fryer as part of my ongoing work with Salter, the British houseware brand who I love. I have wanted an air fryer for a long time and was really being drawn into the hype seeing so many air fryer recipes. So, here I am with an Aerocook and I use it every day without fail. These Air Fryer Banana Splits Two Ways are one of my favourite ways to use it (as well as making croutons, roasted vegetables, crispy falafel and so much more).

What ingredients do I need?
You only need a few basic ingredients to make these splits:
Bananas: this is the key ingredient to make banana splits. It doesn’t matter too much how ripe they are, in fact you don’t want them too ripe (like for banana bread) as they need to hold their shape more so you can fill them. Equally green bananas may be too firm and not sweet enough so go for normal yellow bananas as shown here.
Maple syrup: this is for drizzling into and on top of the bananas so they turn really sticky and gooey. You can use other syrups too like agave or date syrup or vegan honey.
For the snickers peanut caramel filling:
Peanut butter: use smooth or crunchy for spreading into these banana splits.
Crushed peanuts: for more peanut goodness.
Medjool date: this is the caramel element of the snickers and keeps this dessert wholesome and packed with fibre. You can use other dates, but medjool are my favourite as they are juicy and jammy. You can swap this for other juicy tender dried fruits like dried apricots, if you prefer.
Dark chocolate chips: these melt in the airy fryer and turn lovely and gooey. You can use chopped chocolate if you prefer and dairy-free milk or dark is great.
For the white chocolate pecan splits:
Crushed pecans: these are so sweet, crunchy and nutty and work so well for this dessert filling.
White chocolate chips: as above you can use a bar of dairy-free white chocolate that you chop up. I love the white chocolate chips from KoRo made with coconut sugar.
Cinnamon: this is the icing on the cake when it comes to pecans and white chocolate together.
Air Fryer Banana Splits Two Ways
How do I make these Air Fryer Banana Splits Two Ways?
They are really easy to make in a few steps and in less than 15 minutes:
Preheat the air fryer: for me this takes about 5-8 minutes to reach 180*C.
Slice the bananas in half: to make little boats. Make sure to not slice through the banana skin at the bottom.
Fill the banana boats with the fillings: for the snickers and/or the white chocolate pecan.
Drizzle the bananas with maple syrup: and place on the tray for the air fryer.
Bake for 8 minutes or until gooey: the skins will blacken and this is perfect.
Enjoy straight away your desired toppings: like yoghurt, fruit, chocolate sauce and nut butter.
Are these desserts gluten-free and nut-free?
Yes these are naturally gluten-free and to make these nut-free, swap the peanut butter, peanuts and pecans for seeds and seed butter like tahini or sunflower seed butter.
Do I have to use an airy fryer?
These Air Fryer Banana Splits Two Ways are so quick and easy in the air fryer but I am sure you can bake them in the oven at the same temperature for about 10 minutes, or until gooey and soft inside and blackened outside.
Can I make these into other flavours?
Yes of course, fill these banana boats with whatever you fancy, for example you can try:
PB&J: using peanut butter and some jam before topping with fresh berries
Apple crumble: add in some apples, caramel sauce and top with granola once baked.
Chocolate: add in squares of our favourite chocolate and wait to melt.
Tahini Date Pistachio: fill with tahini spread and top with pistachios, chopped dates and maple syrup for a delicious twist.
